Summer Fun

You can slightly see the 'shiner' under Caleb eye..one of many injuries while playing :( Notice the tatoo on the left arm..that's for you Uncle Mike!
Micah pretty disgusted at being in the Bumbo!

We took the boys to the County Fair on Monday night!! It was so much fun! Caleb was able to see the goats, pigs, cows, and even a [drum roll please] fire truck!!

Caleb woke up this morning and said, "Dad work bike." Although this may not sound very profound...it was brilliant for Caleb. He was telling me that Dad rode to work on his bike [which is what he does everyday in the summer]. Such a cutie!!

Micah Man

Baby Blue Eyes!
Working on his crawl

Football Stance

Such a sweet sweet baby boy!!
Mark 10:13 "The people brought children to Jesus, hoping he might touch them. The disciples shooed them off. But Jesus was irate and let them know it: "Don't push these children away. Don't ever get between them and me. These children are at the very center of life in the kingdom. Mark this: Unless you accept God's kingdom in the simplicity of a child, you'll never get in." Then, gathering the children up in his arms, he laid his hands of blessing on them."

Taflinger Happenings....

Caleb has been dealing with a nasty rash that we initially thought was poison ivy. I took him to the doctor on Monday and she reported that it wasn't poison ivy but was unsure of the cause. She prescribed a generic antihistamine to cure the rash but neglected to inform me of the 'drowsiness' effects. As a result, Caleb took a 6 hour afternoon nap!! Needless to say, we give him his medication at night now and the rash is looking much better- thank the Lord!
Micah is defiantly a man on the move, still shuffling around the house but not completely crawling. It could be any day now...
Yesterday I went up to get Caleb after his nap only to discover that my child bit a hole in his crib. Yes, that's right he gnawed a hole in his wooden crib. This does not surprise me considering he has been using it as an over-sized teething biscuit for months now. So Travis and I decided to drench his crib with vinegar last night in a feeble attempt to detour his biting. To our dismay the vinegar taste/smell did not linger and he was at it again today- ANY SUGGESTIONS??

Grandparents 60th Anniverary!

Last weekend I travelled home for my Grandparents 60th Wedding Anniversary!! I was only able to attend a portion of the festivities because I also had a wedding that weekend. However, I was so blessed to be apart of their big day! It is amazing to think that they have been faithful and devoted to their partner for 60 years...such a rarity these days! Thank you for your example Grandma and Gramps, we love you so much!

Gone are the days...

Gone are the days of being able to leave Micah on the floor while I tend to Caleb's dirty diaper..Micah is currently on all fours jumping or lunging forward as he strives to reach for bubby's toys!!! He can travel across the room in a matter of moments...my job as a mother just got harder :) He is two months early in this developmental milestone as compared to his older brother. However, I feel that this may be the first of many 'early' milestones as he attempts to keep up with Caleb!

The Boys...

Micah John at five months
Caleb Jay at five months....

Funny how two boys, coming from the same womb, could be so totally opposite. Caleb had a nice big head, Micah's is small. Caleb had [and has] very skinny legs and Micah's are huge. Caleb was wild from the beginning and Micah possesses a calm spirit. Although my boys are both so different, they bring us equal amounts of joy!!
I'm not sure why they don't do "Baby Therapy." I've said it before..babies bring people together. We can't go on a walk or in a store without being stopped by people of all ages who proceed to offer a positive remark or a smile. I often find myself singing [in the tune of "You are my Sunshine"]...You are my therapy my only therapy. You make me happy when skies are blue, you'll never know Micah and Caleb how much I love you...please don't take my boys away from me!" :)
Honestly though, what could be more comforting here on earth than the smell of a sweet baby, the touch of their soft skin, and the precious smiles they distribute!! Ahhh :) Thank you Jesus for this precious gift!!

Micah is exceeding Caleb developmentally. He is rolling and ready to crawl [getting up on all fours!!]. I am in no rush for him to be mobile but am rather enjoying his stationary presence. Micah lights up when Caleb enters the room and is watching his every move. He laughs when Caleb dances [it is pretty funny] and is sober when Caleb fusses. Already they are so close and I just love watching them interact!! Today we walked to the park for Craft Day! Caleb painted a firetruck [are you surprised?!?] and bubby watched. During his craft, the craft coordinator screamed, "Move Move Move"....directly behind us were two raccoons!! I was carrying Micah in my baby pouch so I just grabbed Caleb and took off running. Of course, Caleb wanted to pet the raccoons and couldn't understand what all the fuss was about.. he keeps me on my toes [literally].
Okay, the house is looking very 'lived-in' so I have some tidying to do before bed!
Love you all
