Family Traditions

Every Christmas Eve we spend with my family in Ohio. The night is filled with Polka's, carols, singing Happy Birthday to Jesus, gifts, good food, and wonderful memories. This year was no different except that Caleb was involved in much of the festivities!! Here is a video of Caleb dancing the night away and my Uncle Ron showing him some of his moves!!

We had a wonderful weekend with the Taflingers. Each year Travis' mom composes a Blessing Letter. This letter lists the many blessings of 2008! Some of those include:
-Brooke moving back to Indiana
-The birth of Landen and good test results
-The announcement of a third grandson...Micah John
-Trips to CO and FL as a family
-Brooke's new job
and many others!
It was so wonderful to be able to reflect upon the many blessings that God has given us!

Bridges Outreach!

Our friend Jon, Caleb and Grandma Taf at Donkey Ball!

These last two pictures were taken at the Bridges Outreach Fundraiser this week. Bridges Outreach hosted an event called "Donkey Ball" in hopes of raising money for their after-school program. The event went well and there was a great turn out...PRAISE YOU JESUS! Bridges Outreach was given a check from the Indiana Youth Institute due to their community involvement, educational excellence, and overall success with their program. God has been so faithful in blessing this ministry! Travis, Casey and Michelle are pictured above with the Mayor and our Congressman! Thank you to all who support Bridges Outreach, we couldn't run this program without you!

33 Weeks

Here I am with my 33 week belly...I can't believe there is only ~7 more weeks until we are able to meet and hold Micah! Today as I was bathing Caleb I was overwhelmed with gratitude!! I cherish our moments together and have even valued them more knowing that once Micah is born, our attention will be divided between the two boys.
It seems that Caleb is doing more and more each day. Today he has mimicked my every move!! As most babies, Caleb enjoys pots and pans. But Caleb has taken that love to a whole new level....he empties my cabinets and sets up his own 'little stove' on the piano bench. He'll take his spoon and stir his pots as he chatters on and on- Oh I could just eat him up!! He then neatly removes all pots from his stove and puts them on the couch to begin another meal. He is taking after his Grandpa P with his love for cooking!

For the past TEN days, Caleb and I were in blessed to spend some time in Ohio [Travis joined us for the later half due to work]!!! As predicted we had a wonderful time catching up with family and friends! I think Caleb is going through withdrawal today because he woke up and looked around for Grandma and Grandpa P!
This holiday season the Taflinger has so much to be Thankful for...here are our top five:
1. Our church home
2. Our precious boys Caleb and Micah
3. Wonderful Family and Friends
4. God's continued provisions for Bridges Outreach
5. The ability for me to be a stay-at-home mom for a Season!!
Thank You Jesus
We Love you!

Laughing

Caleb is attempting to give Daddy his "Icee".... he apparently thought it was hilarious that Travis didn't want his chewed ice!

Well our little man popped another tooth today- making his grand total eight teeth! This has allowed him to eat more 'human food.' I can now hand him an entire apple or plum and this tasty delight will keep him entertained for long periods of time as he learns how to use his new enamels!

I had my 30 week appointment this week and everything looks good. Micah John continues to be very active with a healthy heartbeat of 144.

The Lord has been recently teaching me about discipline [both for my life and as I begin to train Caleb]. The verse that I am meditating upon is: Hebrews 12:10-11...

"...No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful [Caleb learns this principle everyday!]. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it [Oh Lord, bring on the harvest!! :) ]."

I am reading the book, "Feminine Appeal- Seven Virtues of a Godly Wife and Mother" and C. Mahonely has this to say regarding discipline: "Scripture says the avoidance of discipline is an expression of hate, not love (Proverbs 13:24). Far better that children should cry under healthful correction, than that parents should afterwards cry under the bitter fruit to themselves and children, of neglected discipline." She goes on to say that to neglect proper discipline is a selfish and lazy act of the parent!

Love you!!

Bellybutton!

Caleb is just so sweet!! Every time I explain to him that we are having a baby he comes over and pushes on my bellybutton as if he's trying to touch Micah John!

Recently I started thinking about what Caleb and I can do during these upcoming cold winter months... I discovered that Indiana University Kokomo offers Activity Days for children Calebs' age!! Today I took him to the college and he colored, played with playdough [which he thought was delicious], built a Lego car, and read several stories! Between the Activities Days and his book club I think we'll make it!!

Caleb Jay had his 15 month appointment and everything looks great. He is completely off the bottle and eating good...however, it wouldn't hurt if he gained some more weight. My doctor also told me that it would be great if I gained some more weight with this pregnancy so Caleb and I are both taking our Ensure and Pedisure but really, I've come to accept our size and am not worried :)

Micah John is much more active in the womb than Caleb was but I enjoy the constant movement! Thank you Lord for our boys, continue to keep them safe and healthy!

Lisa with her 28 week belly!
This past weekend we went up to Valpraiso, IN to a wonderful Bed and Breakfast. Here we are enjoying a late night snack in their cafe'.

On the grounds.....

A beautiful picture of the Bed and Breakfast!!
It was nice to be able to relax and enjoy eachother for an entire night while our little man stayed with Grandma and Grandpa Taf. Travis and I caught up on our reading, movies, and just spent a lot of quality time together! I got up early and was able to hear the song birds outside of our window! It was truly an amazing place!
