36 Weeks/ 9 Months!!

Family and Friends,

We recently had our 9 month check-up. Caleb was moving around so much it was difficult to capture a heartbeat but he finally decided to stay put long enough to get a reading of 138 beats per minute. I start going to the Doctor weekly now as we approach the due date.

My suitcase is now packed and waiting by the door! Only 5% of mothers deliver on their due date, we are ready for anything!

"There is a time for everything, a season for every activity under heaven. A time to be born....God has made everything beautiful for its own time." Ecclesiastes 3:1-2

Oh Lord, You are our strength. You have created my body to bear this baby. We ask for Your presence and blessing during these hours of labor and delivery [for those of you who know me, know that my tolerance for pain is pretty low :) ]. Our trust is in You! Amen!!

Work Shower!

This past week, my friend Brooke and Tara threw a Baby Shower for the Taflingers! We received some wonderful and very practical [I love practical] gifts for baby Caleb. Travis and I are set on our diapers for a while :)

I started Water Aerobics on Monday and am joined by another pregnant friend who also enjoys the 'weightless' feeling of the water. It's a great workout and Caleb is constantly moving as I do my deep water lunges!

Just as my hunger has moved into full swing, my stomach is feelings totally squashed so I have to eat frequently but smaller meals.

With the end in site, I have a surplus of emotions- from feelings of extreme joy to feelings of nervousness. Thank you for your prayers and support during this time. We love you!

Travis and I co-hosted the "Porch Reunion" this year in Kokomo. We had a wonderful time with college friends as we saw some of Kokomo's finest sites [Kokomo Beach/Water Park, Backyard BBQ, Rice's Golf course and Crazy Jay's Ice cream]. The "Porch" continues to grow and this year we had 5 babies under 2 with three on the way! We are blessed to have such wonderful people in our lives! Many of the experienced mothers were able to offer/mentor the soon-to-be mothers present! Much baby talk was had!

Travis' First Father's Day!! 6.17.2007

Today was Travis' first Father's Day [well maybe not officially]!! At church the men were challenged to stand up for Christ in their communities, places of employment, and in their homes. Our Pastor gave the following stat: "If a teenager comes to know the Lord, he has a 22% chance of leading his entire family to the Lord. If a mother comes to know the Lord, she has a 55% chance of leading the rest of her family to the Lord BUT IF THE HUSBAND/FATHER comes to know the Lord, he has a 96% chance of leading his family to the Lord." Let us not underestimate the power of a praying father and his impact on our families! To celebrate Father's Day, we went a picnic - however, to make it a little more interesting, I blindfolded the soon-to-be-papa. We had a perfect day!

On Thursday, I had my 34 week check-up.

Caleb's heartbeat was 146 and my doctor said that his head was down and that my cervix is not dilated yet. My vitals were great and am scheduled to go back in two weeks.

Psalms 8 says, "You, Oh Lord have taught children and nursing infants to give you praise...

I'm finally back from camp and ready to stay close to both of my babies. Lisa is getting all the details ready and I have put together all the baby items (car seat, high chair, play pen, stroller, etc). They are a lot harder than they look. We have about 6 weeks left and as the due date approaches we can not believe that we will have a baby boy around our home soon. We are praying that the birth will go as well as the prgenancy has gone. Thanks for all your prayers!

Forgetful!!

I am becoming more and more forgetful as the pregnancy progresses. For example, I received a call late last night from the Kokomo Police Department- it went something like this....

Police: "Mrs. Taflinger, do you drive a blue Geo?"
Confused Lisa: "Yes, I do"
Police: "Well, the Speedway gas station called to report that you filled your car up with gas and did not pay so we're going to need to you go back to the gas station because you owe them $11.67."
Forgetful Lisa: "Oh my, I must of just swiped my Speedy Rewards Card and not my credit card, this pregnant mind of mine!! I'm sorry."
Kind Police: "No harm done, they said you didn't appear to be purposefully stealing their gas- just be more aware in the future."
Lisa: "Will do!"

Oh my!!

8 months/ 32 weeks!!

We had our 8 month check- up and everything is progressing nicely.
Current weight: 117
Babies heartbeat: 140
Current reading selection: Our Baby, the first year
Concern of the month: To have [an epidural] or not to have [an epidural]? I've also been researching vaccinations.

We recently painted the following verse on our nursery wall:
Joshua 1:9 "Be strong and courageous...for the Lord, your God will be with you wherever you go."

Lord, we ask that you be Caleb wherever he goes. May he feel your presence in his life on a daily basis! We Love you!
